Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller (July 8, 1908 – January 26, 1979) was an American businessman and politician who served as the 41st vice president of the United States from 1974 to 1977, and previously as the 49th governor of New York from 1959 to 1973. Jesse Edward Hutchinson was born on October 13, 1914 in Fennville, Michigan. He received an A.B. from the University of Michigan in 1936, and a J.D. from Michigan in 1938. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1946. Hutchinson was a Michigan State Representative (Republican) from 1947 to 1950, a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1948, a Michigan State Senator from 1951 to 1960, and a delegate to the Michigan Constitutional Convention from 1961 to 1962.
